If you’re transgender, bisexual, gay, lesbian, queer or other member of the LGBTQIA+ community looking for support or financial assistance, you’ve come to the right place! Or if you have a little extra cash to share and want to learn about places to share your resources, read on.

We’ve compiled a list of mutual aid funds and scholarships for everything from binders to gender-affirming surgery and from groceries to legal aid. 

Note: FOLX does not have any affiliation with these organizations, except where noted, so you’ll want to check their websites for up-to-date information and to learn more!

Pride Foundation

1. Pride Foundation Alaska

Pride Foundation is the only LGBTQ+ community foundation with board and staff members based in Anchorage, through their work extends throughout Alaska - with much of the vast state inaccessible by roads.

Scholarships: Open 10/2024-1/5/2025 and Grants: Open April 2024.

Intransitive works to advance the cause of Trans liberation in Arkansas through art, education, advocacy, organizing, and culture in order to create effective systemic change and on-the-ground impact.

Grants and Scholarships: Open Year Round.


Transformative Freedom Fund logo

3. Transformative Freedom Fund

Anaya and Marv both had a dream to start a nonprofit to remove financial barriers for transgender folks accessing transition related health care. They feel that all transgender people should have access to medical treatment and transition related care if and when they choose to use it. The Transformative Freedom Fund will assist those with financial barriers to access this life saving health care.

AQUA by and for GBTQ women

4. AQUA Foundation for Women

Since 2004, AQUA Foundation for women has been Florida's only nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQ+ women.

Scholarships: Open May 2024.

STRIVE Socialist Trans Initiative

5. Strive: Socialist Trans Initiative

Strive provides needs-based services to primarily Transgender people in Pensacola and surrounding areas. Emergency Housing Program, HRT, Prescription Coverage, Minor Medical Co-Pays, Food Allocations, Transportation, Mental Health Service, Recommendations, Social Work Service, and Recommendations.

BLISS CARES logo

6. Bliss Cares

BLISS CARES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing the spread of HIV, hepatitis, and STDs. We strive to serve everyone who walks through our doors, regardless of their ability to pay. Through our programs, we provide underserved patients with access to STD treatment and prevention, with a focus on sexual health. Individuals eligible for financial assistance with BLISS CARES will receive complimentary or reduced-cost healthcare through a specialized clinic, called BLISS Health.

ALU LIKE, Inc

7. Alu Like

Hana Lima Scholarship Program, Native Hawaiian Summer School Assistance Program, Ho’omanea ‘Oiwi Employment & Training Program.

Pride Foundation Montana Idaho

8. Pride Foundation  - Idaho

Based in Idaho's scenic state capital of Boise - the City of Trees- Pride Foundation's work in Idaho is led by one full-time regional philanthropy officer who works closely with passionate and tireless volunteers and board members throughout the sate, from Post Falls to Pocatello.

Scholarships: Open 10/2/2024 - 1/5/2025 and Grants: Open April 2024.

9. Iowa Trans Mutual Aid

Aims to provide financial assistance to trans and nonbinary folks seeking gender-affirming care throughout all of Iowa.

Grants: Applications start at the beginning of each month.

Black Trans Fund logo

10. Change Today, Change Tomorrow - Black Trans Fund

Change Today Change Tomorrow stands with, and serves, the most marginalized communities in their city. They are in partnership with Diversity at the Table, started the Black Trans, Non-Conforming & Non-Binary Direct Person Fund. The fund provides direct monetary assistance to community members to get the things they need, and these needs may include bills, travel, food, medical needs, and recreational needs.

Scholarships and Grants: Closed, but open up March 2024.

Transgender Emergency Fund of MA

11. Transgender Emergency Fund

Since 2008, the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts has been providing critical assistance to low-income transgender people in MA.
Scholarships & Grants: Currently paused due to high demand. Check back regularly to see the status.

Supporting Trans communities of color and trans youth in survival to build capacity and leadership skills in the Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri regions.

Scholarships & Grants: Change throughout the year and information is placed on their Instagram.

Pride Foundation Montana

13. Pride Foundation - Montana

Montana is a rich and vibrant state with endless rivers, mountains, and adventures at every turn. Most commonly referred to as the 'Big Sky State', it spans just over 150,000 square miles - with an average of fewer than 7 people per square mile. This vastness is acutely felt by any organization working to build community across the expansive region.

Black trans led mutual aid. The Okra Project believes that mutual aid is essential to supporting Black Trans people across the United States. Without social safety nets, mutual aid becomes critical for many in their community, and they are proud to be a part of this vital work.

Trans Empowerment Project TEP

15. Trans Empowerment Project

Trans Empowerment Project is moving the Trans community out of crisis and into empowerment by working with accomplices to improve access to vital resources to ensure that our most marginalized community members, Disabled 2TIGE-BIPOC, can thrive and live their best lives.

Queer Mobilization Fund

16. Queer Mobilization Fund

The Queer Mobilization Fund was created in 2016 as a rapid response fund to support community mobilizations and projects that advance Queer and Trans liberation in the wake of NC House Bill 2 (HB2). The purpose of this fund was and is to support queer and trans people of color on the frontlines of struggles for freedom and liberation.

Black & Beyond the Binary Collective builds the leadership, healing, and safety of Black-African transgender, queer, nonbinary, two-spirit, and intersex (TQN2SI+) Oregonians.

Eastern PA Trans Equity Project

EPTEP Provides Direct Services To Transgender And Gender-Diverse Pennsylvanians In A Thirty-Three County Region In Eastern PA.

Delaware Valley Legacy Foundation

19. Delaware Valley Legacy Foundation

DVLF is the leading fundraiser serving the emerging needs of the Greater Philadelphia LGBTQ+ community. DVLF was created in 1993 to benefit the Philadelphia region’s community through philanthropy, raising money for a permanent endowment.

The Trans Love Fund is dedicated to supporting the Trans community through providing emergency funds to trans identified individuals throughout South Carolina.

Black Trans Lives Thrive Giving Circle

Black Trans Lives Thrive (BTLT) is a giving circle founded in response to the question: how can I support Black Trans leaders who are working hard to build thriving communities

Black Trans Coalition for economic liberation

22. BTRG

This group is not an educational resource for non-Black folks. It is not a charity group; they do not provide donations, they make payments towards a larger societal and spiritual debt. This group is led and created by a community of Black Trans people while white and non-Black group moderators are entirely volunteer (never compensated) and are responsible for the majority of the organizational and maintenance work. Each part of this revolutionary action has its role and they welcome you to join and play your part in enriching lives and rebalancing their cities wealth.

Scholarships: Black people may sign-up for access to groceries and community pantries Year Round.

Dem Bois Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to provide charitable financial assistance for female to male, FTM, trans-masculine identified person(s) of color for them to obtain chest reconstruction surgery, and or genital reassignment surgery (gender-affirming surgery) to help them on their journey to live physically, and mentally authentic lives.

The Jim Collins Foundation (JCF), a national nonprofit organization with a mission to fund gender-affirming surgeries, is delighted to announce that for the 2023 grant year, 5 surgical grants from our Founders’ Fund have been awarded to a diverse group of grant recipients from across the United States.

Nicolas Gogan Foundation

27. Nicolas Gogan Foundation

Every trans+ person deserves joy, love, and unconditional support. That’s what Nico fought for, and today his legacy continues through the Nicolas Gogan Foundation. We support the well-being and success of the trans+ community by providing mutual aid for healthcare, housing, legal services, and education/professional development for trans+ folks in need.

Scholarships: Summer is 6/1/2024 - 6/30/2024. Fall is 9/1/2024 - 9/30/2024. Winter is 2/1/2024 - 2/28/2024. Spring is 4/1/2024 - 4/30/2024.

The Womanist Working Collective

28. The Womanist Working Collective

The Womanist Working Collective is a radiacal grassroots social action and support collective for Black folks of marginalized gender experience, specifically women, femmes, and other gender expansive folx. While this lanugage will never be enough to encapsulate all of the Black folx we center, we want to be clear that we affirm the full breadth of Black gender expansiveness and explicitly reject cisexism. Our Community of Practice unapologetically centers our Quality of Life and livelihoods through Community Organizing, Mutual Aid and Holistic Wellness.

Transgender Law Center

30. Transgender Law Center - Trans Health Legal Fund

Transgender Law Center changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. Transgender Law Center (TLC) is the largest national trans-led organization advocating for a world in which all people are free to define themselves and their futures.

Voix Noire

31. Voix Noire

Voix Noire is a reparations based organization that serves the most vulnerable of Black marginalized genders and children. They are a safe space for Black women, marginalized genders and children to seek and receive assistance with immediacy and no red tape.

Pride Foundation Montana

32. Pride Foundation - Oregon

Pride Foundation has two staff members based in Portland, oregon with grantees, scholars, and volunteers located in every corner of the state. More so than other parts of our region, Oregon has seen increased visbility within the LGBTQ+ community - from the electrion of the first openly LGBTQ+ governor in the country, to the passage of the first piece of transgender specific legislation, which simplifies the name and gender marker change on Oregon birth certificates.
