FOLX was founded to transform healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community, because so many of us have been marginalized and mistreated by mainstream healthcare. Inclusive and affirming care remains inaccessible for many LGBTQIA+ people, but FOLX is changing that by increasing access and transforming the care experience.
Entrepreneur and queer health advocate A.G. Breitenstein, with the support of LGBTQIA+ leaders and clinicians, founded FOLX as the first-ever digital healthcare platform designed for us. We launched in December 2020 and have been growing ever since.
The history of queer and trans healthcare, and our communities more broadly, is a history of taking care of each other, especially when mainstream institutions have failed us. At FOLX we know that health and wellness isn't just about what happens in doctor's visits. It's about getting to know ourselves and about having that knowledge reflected and witnessed by others. It's about working together to create a better world for our community. It's about creating spaces of wellness and joy together.
In doing so, we are saving lives and transforming healthcare forever.
We are proud that our entire executive team is part of the LGBTQIA+ community. 81% of our clinicians are part of the community, and so is the majority of our staff. This is healthcare by and for us, on our terms.
