We know how difficult it can be to find a therapist who understands us and truly sees us with no judgment. Many of our therapists are part of the LGBTQIA+ community themselves and they all have extensive experience providing expert, affirming care to the community.

Most folks with in-network insurance will pay just their copay (usually around $15-50) for therapy sessions (this will depend on your individual plan and whether or not you’ve met your deductible). Otherwise, sessions are $129/visit when paying out-of-pocket. In addition, FOLX membership costs $39.99 per month (or $299 annually).

We currently offer talk therapy in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington (with more states to come). Not in one of those states? We’re expanding to other states as soon as we can. Let us know your interest by filling out this short form.

Michael
she/her
Therapist

Michael is a marriage and family therapist in the state of Texas. Practicing since 2009, she has dedicated her career to supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families with their lived experiences. Her philosophy of therapy stems from collaborative practices wherein the client is the expert on their story and what they want to get out of therapy. Together through respectful and transformative dialogue, therapist and client can co-create meaning and a path towards life changing goals. While only working with individual clients with FOLX, she does believe in a systemic approach to therapy that involves understanding the relational dynamics between clients and the people in their lives. Some techniques and strategies she may use in session involve breathing/mindfulness exercises, looking at attachment styles and family of origin, and an exploration of different solutions to see what kind of change might be possible for a client. Coming from a client centered approach, she is flexible in supporting clients with other strategies and interventions that might be helpful as well. Reflective, kind, and creative, Michael is down to earth and supportive in her work. She is thrilled to be a part of the FOLX therapy team and looks forward to working with its members.

They specialize in working with trans adults and teens, navigating transition, grief, trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety/depression, non-normative personalities, neurodivergence (AuDHD+), adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and many other natural responses to unnatural conditions (i.e. racial capitalism and colonial relationships).

They are also rooted in lineages of justice including racial justice, healing justice, transformative justice, reproductive justice, disability and gender justice, etc. Through these lineages they are committed to bodily autonomy, self-determination, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, prison and police abolition, community care and mutual aid. They are firmly decolonial in their approach to healing, and see our work together as a part of our larger liberation from oppressive systems.
