This is one of two DHT blockers which helps block the effects of testosterone in your body. Specifically on hair follicles preventing hair loss. It is a slightly stronger DHT blocker than finasteride.

How to take

It's a daily pill that can be taken at any time during the day.

Potential side effects

Finasteride and dutasteride help prevent male pattern baldness in persons with testosterone as well as decrease face and body hair. The common side effects in cis AMAB persons in sexual dysfunction and that sometimes is associated with depression or suicidality. It does not affect kidney function or potassium so is safer for older persons or persons with kidney problems.

Is dutasteride right for me?

These are the only medications that can protect against genetic hair loss or balding.

Can be used in addition to Spironolactone if already at a high dose and need additional testosterone blocking.

Can be a good option as a single medication for people who are looking to achieve only partial changes.

Often not covered by insurance.
