If you’re reading this, you probably have ADHD, so we’ve tried to keep this short and digestible. The TLDR (or short version) is that we prescribe ADHD medications to people in select states with an existing diagnosis and prescription. Read on for the details or navigate to the FAQs with the table of contents up top.
We know managing ADHD can feel like a lot, especially when you're balancing your mental health with navigating a healthcare system that might not always "get" you. For many of us in the LGBTQIA+ community, past experiences with healthcare providers may have been less than affirming or inclusive, leaving you feeling unseen or misunderstood. That’s where FOLX steps in.
If you're living with ADHD, you already know that its challenges are unique to each individual. Maybe you're dealing with hyperactivity, focus issues, executive dysfunction, or feeling overwhelmed by daily tasks. Whatever ADHD looks like for you, FOLX is here to help you manage your treatment with compassionate, community-driven care. Our clinicians understand the importance of providing ADHD care that affirms your whole self and overall well-being.
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how you pay attention, manage impulses, and regulate energy levels. Symptoms can vary widely, but common signs include difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
ADHD often starts in childhood but can persist into adulthood, sometimes going undiagnosed for years. It affects people differently and can influence all aspects of daily life, including work, relationships, and sometimes self-care routines.
ADHD Symptoms You Might Experience
ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone, but common symptoms may include:
- Inattention: Struggling to stay focused or frequently losing track of tasks
- Hyperactivity: Feeling restless or having trouble staying still
- Impulsivity: Acting without thinking, which might lead to risky decisions or problems with self-control
- Time Management: Difficulty organizing tasks, staying on schedule, or meeting deadlines
- Emotional Regulation: Mood swings, frustration, or difficulty managing stress
How FOLX Clinicians Can Help Manage ADHD
FOLX clinicians bring a personalized, affirming approach to all our comprehensive mental health care, ensuring your treatment plan aligns with your life, identity, and goals. We offer a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ folks, where your ADHD diagnosis is seen in the context of your whole self.
Here’s how FOLX can help:
Medication Management: If you're already on ADHD medication, FOLX clinicians can manage your prescriptions, adjusting dosages as needed to fit your current lifestyle. This might include stimulant medications, such as Adderall or Ritalin, or non-stimulant options like Strattera. FOLX can also help you explore alternative treatments or adjust your current regimen for optimal results.
Non-Medication Strategies: ADHD treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. If medication isn’t right for you, FOLX offers behavioral strategies, mindfulness practices, and lifestyle adjustments to help you manage symptoms without pharmaceuticals. From organizational tools to personalized mental health tips, our clinicians and therapists are here to support you.
Mental Health Support: ADHD often comes with co-occurring conditions like anxiety or depression, which can make symptom management even more complex. FOLX clinicians are experienced in providing holistic care that addresses both your ADHD and any other mental health concerns. If therapy is part of your treatment plan, we can refer you to our or other LGBTQIA+-inclusive mental health professionals.
