At FOLX, we do things a bit differently, on purpose. We’re reinventing what it means to think about health care because the current model just isn’t good enough. Traditional health care is not always suited for us as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Many of us avoid going to the doctor unless we absolutely have to, and it can be nerve-wracking to get care in person.
We believe that you should not only have expert clinical care for your mind and body when you need it, but this care should include regular wellness check-ins, community support and resources, help navigating your care, and transparent communication with your clinician.
In other words, we believe in holistic care, by and for us, surrounded by the support of the community. We’re doing something different for your mind, body, and spirit, because in the LGBTQIA+ community, we’ve never gone with the status quo.
Why We Do What We Do
Our company was founded to transform healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community because so many of us have been marginalized and mistreated by mainstream healthcare. Inclusive and affirming care remains inaccessible for many LGBTQIA+ people, but we are changing that by increasing access and transforming the care experience.
This is personal to us. We are proud that our entire executive team is part of the LGBTQIA+ community, 81% of our clinicians are part of the community, and so is the majority of our staff. This is healthcare by and for us, on our terms.

Our Care
Our care is centered around a trusting relationship with a clinician who can care for your whole self. We affirm your identity without judgment, ensuring you feel valued and respected at every step. We can be your primary care provider and coordinate all the care you might need. Your ongoing relationship with your clinician allows your care to be comprehensive and personalized in a way you may not get with another provider. Our care is also centered around your ongoing relationship with yourself and your community, making sure you have the support you need physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Our Clinicians
100% of our members see their clinicians as partners in their care. Our clinicians are experts in LGBTQIA+ care, with an average of 10+ years of experience providing this care, and over 80% of them are in the community themselves. They possess a deep, nuanced understanding of the unique challenges and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community and create a safe and affirming space where patients can openly discuss their health concerns. Our holistic approach goes beyond just medical treatment—we also address mental health and overall well-being for your whole self. At FOLX, our clinicians are not just healthcare providers; they are advocates, allies, and champions for their patients.
Our Community
Our care at FOLX goes beyond visits with your clinician, lab work, and medications. Included in membership, the FOLX Community Platform provides a space to connect and share. It has a wealth of resources, including educational content, live events, peer support groups, and interactive forums where members can share their experiences and seek advice. Members are able to explore their identities, find guidance, and create connections with fellow members to ensure they do not feel alone in their health care or identity journey.
Resources
We provide a breadth of resources to support your whole life on a variety of topics. The Community Platform hosts courses (that you can take at your own pace) on things like managing anxiety, enhancing your sleep, exploring mindfulness, and more. In addition, you can find a variety of articles on gender-affirming care & transition, sexual health, fertility & family building, mental health, and community resources like how to come out at work or navigate insurance. We offer these resources so you can stay educated and informed, and feel that you have the support you need every step of the way.
Member Navigation Team
We have an entire team dedicated to helping members navigate their care that you can reach out to at any time. Our member navigation team can answer questions, help you navigate your insurance or labs, provide referrals to local specialists or in-person providers from our vetted network, and so much more. They are just another layer of support that we provide to help make everything as easy as possible for you.

At FOLX, we know how important health care research is for the LGBTQ+ community. We are committed to centering LGBTQ+ experiences and creating research with our members to ensure our studies reflect the diversity of the community and enhance health outcomes for all.
