The most common injectable testosterone is testosterone cypionate, which comes suspended in cottonseed oil. An alternative form of injectable testosterone is testosterone enanthate. This is sometimes used when people have an allergic reaction to cottonseed oil and comes suspended in sesame oil. It has similar dosing and effect as t cypionate.
Injections only need to be taken every week or every other week based on your dose. We recommend this option for people who are comfortable with self-injecting. As part of onboarding to this medication, you will be trained on how to self inject by your clinical team.
Testosterone gel is applied directly on your skin daily which supplies a stable amount of testosterone. Some people choose this if they are uncomfortable with self-injecting. This is a great option for people who want a very low dose of testosterone.
A lot of people think this, and for some people it might be true, but what we know is that how fast your changes appear is much more linked to your dose than it is to the route you're taking your testosterone. You'll work with your clinician to establish a care plan that will help you achieve your goals.
